Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible if I work for myself?

No. This funding is for frontline agricultural and meatpacking workers only. Self-employed and/or contracted workers are not eligible.

Am I eligible to apply if I work at a marijuana farm?

Medical/recreational marijuana is not classified as agricultural crop by USDA, so these workers are not eligible. However, Hemp (Cannabis sativa L. and “any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers,” with no more than a 0.3 percent concentration of THC.) is classified as an agricultural crop. Therefore, workers engaged in hemp production/cultivation are eligible workers. More information can be found here: Hemp Production Program Questions and Answers | Agricultural Marketing Service (usda.gov)

Am I eligible to apply if I work on my family’s farm but I do not get paid?

No. Workers must be paid a minimum of one hour of agricultural or meatpacking work.

Are grocery workers eligible?

No. If applying through Cherokee Nation, only agricultural and meatpacking workers are eligible for this funding. You are encouraged to review the list of funded organizations on the USDA site to determine the program that best fits your situation.
